Streamline Work Processes with Asana's Custom Fields

This video presents a time-saving alternative to task templates for creating tasks with predetermined custom fields. The use case highlighted in the video is just one example of how this method can be used to pre-populate custom fields when creating tasks, milestones, or approvals.

Nice one! I just added this view to ‘my tasks’ so I can have anything due ‘today’ and ‘high priority’ in a different view. Look forward to sharing this with the company.

Super discovery, thank you @Jeremy_Long !

At the risk of being a party-pooper, do we know (from Asana) if this is a true feature or an unsupported artifact of programming that happens to be useful?

(Note: Our teams make heavy use of custom fields and I see this being super convenient for some. I just want to make sure that this tip has longevity before we get people too excited about it! )

Thanks, @Adam_Caruso! This is something I happened to stumble upon, and I found it incredibly useful. I can’t speak for the development team on whether this behavior was intentional or not.

@Adam_Caruso, I can at least confirm that this feature has been around for a while, and similar behavior appears elsewhere in the app. I can’t say for sure about its longevity, but personally I’d be surprised if it disappears because it would likely take development effort and alter expected behavior.

Thanks,

Larry
