Start/stop timer on mobile - sign up for early access!

Hi Asana Community,

Back in November, we launched mobile time tracking and your feedback has been incredible. One request came through louder than anything else: a live start/stop timer on mobile. We heard you - and we’ve been working on it.

Today, I’m excited to share that we’re opening up early access to the mobile timer on iOS and Android, and we’d love for you to be among the first to try it.

What’s new

With the mobile timer, you will be able to:

  • Start and stop a timer directly from a task to log actual time spent - no more estimating after the fact
  • Keep tracking while you navigate - the timer persists across screens, so you can check other tasks, projects, or your inbox without losing your running time
  • Update time entry details while the timer is running (project, notes, etc.)
  • Works for everyone - whether your organization uses the Timesheets & Budgets add-on or standard time tracking

Whether you’re a field technician moving between job sites, a creative deep in a design session, or a project manager bouncing between meetings - this is built for the way you actually work on the go.

Why early access?

We want to get this into your hands quickly and learn from how you use it before we roll it out more broadly. Your real-world feedback will directly shape the final experience. This is your chance to influence how the timer works before it goes live for everyone.

What to expect as a participant

  • In early March, you’ll get access to the timer feature on the Asana mobile app (iOS and Android)
  • You’ll be able to share feedback directly with our product team via a short feedback form or by replying in this thread
  • Note: Pause/resume, editing time entries after saving, and home screen widgets are not yet included - but we’re listening for what matters most to you next

Ready to try it? Sign up here

If you’re interested in joining the early access program, fill out this short form. Feel free to share this with any Asana user on your team who might be interested.

Note: Space in this early access program is limited, so not everyone who signs up may be included right away - but we’ll do our best to get as many of you in as possible.

We can’t wait to hear what you think!

Not sure the best way to ask this @Mishka_Belibassakis , but does this apply organization-wide? Or just the individual within the organization that would request early access?

That’s a great question @Levar_M!

It will be turned on for individuals that request early access, as we’d love to hear more direct feedback before launching it more broadly.

It won’t break anything for other people in the organization - “timer” time entries, once saved, will be treated just like the manual ones.
