Hi! Is there a way to sort task cards within a section?

I don’t know of a way to do it in List view.

But you can switch to Board view where Sections become boards/columns, then when you sort, everything sorts within the section.

I can confirm that it is currently not possible to sort tasks within a section. There are a few threads in the Forum regarding this topic. I’m listing them above in case you want to vote for the ones you would like to see implemented.

Sort tasks by Due Date WITHIN Sections

I want to automatically sort my tasks by due date WITHIN my sections for a project. I know I can manually drag them around, but that’s a bit annoying… This could be a nice simple addition to the sorting feature for Asana.

Ability to sort only selected tasks and multiple fields

Request is to allow sorting of selected tasks (currently only all tasks may be sorted. In addition, sorting a section’s tasks would be helpful too. Several posts request this, so adding here at the suggestion of @Michael_A. (Hope that’s ok, @Mary_Conquest. Vote here! Recent related thread is quoted below, but I see there’s also part of this request mentioned in Sort tasks by Due Date WITHIN Sections along with references there as well.

Sorting by sections

It would be helpful if we could sort alphabetically by sections and the tasks beneath those sections would move along with the sections. Right now if I try and sort alphabetically and I have tasks and sections, it will sort by every task. I then lose my order and have to sort out my tasks again under the appropriate sections.

There are several threads on this issue - some dating back to 2018, if not earlier -
2 questions:

1. Would it be possible for the mods to combine these ?
2. When will this feature - ability to sort tasks within a section - be available ?

I could state my use case, but it would only be a duplication of what has been expressed numerous times in the past.

What is the best way to move this forward - the need clearly exists.

So it seems to me sorting by section is now possible.
