Show workspace name in browser tab

Hi,
Im using the asana app on mac and I’m usually working with 4 asana boards during the day.

It would be very helpful to see the name of the boards instead of “My tasks” when inspecting the dock icon.
Also when opening a board, ASANA does not check if it has been opened already and opens a new one again.

Thank you!

Hi,

Can you clarify?

Hi,

when I open a board from the menu (My settings…), ASANA opens a new window, without checking if the board is already opened in another window.

At the end of the day I have multiple ASANA windows opened with duplicates of the same boards.

You are saying “board” when you actually mean “workspaces”. Do you have a lot of workspaces? Why?

Because we share the workspace with our clients, so every client needs to have his own workspace with his projects, tasks and so on…

Makes sense :muscle:

Can you clarify?

Your request makes sense, making sure the desktop app does not open another window if the same is already opened. It should be a dedicated thread though.

Here’s a workaround that I’ve started using for the tab issue, where it shows the same thing for each workspace and it’s hard to pick which tab to click. Before I move to another tab, I select the default Team on the left, which is the same name as the workspace. The tab shows the current selection, which is now the same name as the workspace. I’m doing this on Chrome on Windows, but assume it should behave the same on Mac.

As someone who belongs to multiple workspaces under one email (in both my professional email and personal email) it would be helpful to have the display title on tabs in the desktop app reflect the workspace.

Right now tabs, other than the inbox, say “My Tasks - Asana” or “[insert project name] - Asana”. This seems silly, redundant, and a waste of perfectly good real estate - I’m in the Asana desktop app so I know I’m in Asana and I don’t need a reminder.

It would be much more helpful if the tab could display “My Tasks - [insert workspace]” or if space is an issue, use the icon for the workspace or let us pick a color to denote which tab belongs to what workspace.

The inbox tab already shows the workspace name and the title of a message.

It would also be super cool if the tabs could have some sort of alert/stats like number of notifications or number of overdue tasks to help us fight fires faster.

@Diane_Eshelman,

I’ve merged your post into an existing topic where you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the purple Vote button.

For any parts of your request that are not covered by the new thread title (e.g., alert/status/counts), please create a new Product Feedback topic for each.

Thanks,

Larry

I agree that mentioning Asana is a bit redundant. It makes more sense in the browser.

The naming doesn’t seem consistent throughout the app. For instance I also have:
<instance name> inbox - Asana and <instance name> - Asana for goals.

Although I’d like the idea of being able to distinguish between instances at a glance I won’t vote for this feature as it suggests adding the entire instance name.

A more sublte solution like icon or colour as @Diane_Eshelman suggested would be welcome though.
