We have an Asana workspace setup - but it has a lot of info that is about projects in development - and some private info as well.
I want to keep that as a private board - reassign access to just myself and my assistant - and then start a new board that is more public facing for our team. I’m not sure how to go about this.

I accidentally invited myself to a team I did not want to be on. I did not accept the invitation and deleted it, but was given access anyway. That makes me nervous for the future.
What is the review process when someone is invited to a team?

I believe the Team you are referring is a Public Team, reason why you were automatically added to it without approval. You can learn more about Team Settings and permissions in the following Guide articles:
