It would be very helpful to automatically set the due date to a static date when a task is moved to a certain section. I have my sections organized by release in some projects and I know the due date for the release but it’s not a dynamic date (ie: days into the future), it’s static.
Hi @anon79686884, welcome to the Asana Community forum
Thanks for reaching out! I believe the below Rule might help you here
You can have the due date set a certain number of days out once a task is moved to a Section. Does this help?
Thanks for sharing Rebecca! This doesn’t cover what I would like to do. I want to set the task to a specific date. ie: all tasks in this Section should be due 12/8/2021.
@Rebecca_McGrath neglected to tag you in the above
Hi @anon79686884, thanks for following up! While this isn’t Rule action at this time, hopefully this is something our Product team can add in the future!
I’ll keep you posted and let you know if I have any updates
Has this been brought to Asana’s attention again? I need specific reoccurring due dates on that particular date.
I would love to see this feature as well!
Hi Rebecca
I would like to run a rule, when a milestone date is added in a section, I want it that date to trigger dates for other tasks in that section.
For example release date 07/09/2022
task4 -5 days
task3 minus 4 days
any suggestions? thanks
+1 to this request. Days in the future seems pretty useless…just want to add a specific due date.
I just ran into this limitation and my workaround was to use Advanced Search in this project the set of tasks to set to a particular date, then do that in one action in advanced search results with multi-select. Crude, but the best I could think of until/if Asana allows specific dates instead of relative dates.
Hope that helps,
Larry
Thank you, I will try.
Is there any plans to improve this feature? It does not fit any of the scenarios I currently want to do under rules.
I am trying to organise my workload to set the new due date to “Monday” so that I can update the task and then re-schedule.
I think the feature is missing the ability to:
- Set a specific date manually entered eg. 24/12/2023
- Set a specific date that is related the current month or future month eg. 25th of this month, 25th of next month, or 25th of +2 months
- Set a specific day of the week with a defined gap eg. Next Monday, Monday in 2 weeks, First Monday of next Month etc.
Thanks
Have there been any updates to this? I know there have been improvements to due date, but am wondering if it’s now possible to set specific due dates as tasks automate through sections, or if this is still being developed.
This seems like a very basic update that would have a great benefit. Personally, I would like to have submitted forms assigned a due date of Monday, the day of the week we process payroll.
Hope this gets an update soon.
This is a pretty fundamental product gap. Can anyone at Asana address whether this is part of the roadmap?
Hi @Brian_Carroll,
Asana doesn’t publish or comment on a roadmap. Information on updates is posted here in the forum as they come up for release.
I need to automate tasks created by a form to be due on the next Friday after it’s received. This would be a huge addition for me!
The fact that it has been a few years since this was brought up and no really cared to add this feature is amazing!! like it shouldn’t be THAT hard to add this feature. please do this as it would be very helpful.
It would be helpful to blanket assign due dates to the following Monday of whenever the rule is triggered. My team has a standing Monday meeting to go over workloads and reschedule due dates. I see this has been requested a few times, I think it would be helpful for many teams. Thank you!
