Now we just need a rule to automate this @Rebecca_McGrath ![]()
Is this only available for the Organization level and not workspaces? Would love to have a way to store Templates in a separate list so it’s not mixed in with regular Projects. Asana support is not able to convert us to the Organization level and doing so manually would cause extreme disruption thus preventing us from ever upgrading to the Org level.
Hi @Liz_Krause,
It’s supported for workspaces as well.
@Phil_Seeman Okay thanks. So, this still keeps the templates listed in the Project list on the left? Was hoping it would be removed so it’s not cluttering up our list of active projects. When I tested, it seems it is still included in the Active project list.
Thanks
We are having the exact same issue. I can’t see upgrading my templates until there is a better way to sort and organize them.
Same here, i think Templates 2.0 concept is good, but is not very workable for us right now. I won’t be upgrading my existing templates just yet.
It’s unfortunate that there wasn’t a transition and now i can’t create a Template with the legacy system.
Just FYI I saw an updated timeframe of “May to June” for this conversion, so it looks like Asana is intending to get all existing project templates in the new 2.0 format by end of June - that’s definitely sooner than “August”.
new and converted templates should only appear under the Team at the bottom and not on the left sidebar as a project.
Hi @Alicia_Sorgatz, welcome to the Asana Community Forum ![]()
Thanks for this feedback. I’ve passed this onto our Product team. I’ll let you know if we have any updates in the future ![]()
Hi all
I hope you’ve all had a chance to try out Project Templates 2.0! I just wanted to drop a quick update on Dashboards. Due to a bug, Dashboards are not currently supported in Project Templates 2.0 but this will be coming soon!
I’ll update this thread as soon as we begin to roll this out ![]()
Thanks for this feedback, @Phil_Seeman and @Randi_Jefferys! I’ve passed this onto our Product team and will let you know if we have any updates ![]()
Great question, @Sarah_Conner-Brown! This isn’t available right now but is on our Product team’s radar. I’ll let you know if we have any news on this in the future ![]()
Is there a way to Duplicate a template with this new type of Template?
It appears that you can now only select a “start date” for using a template to create new project from template. And not an end date.
Previously I was able to choose between a “start date” or an “end date”
I Use the “end date” a lot more than the start date, because all the tasks timeline in my projects are based off the last task i.e end date.
Can you please make it available again to use end date (i.e. choose a new end date for last task), when using a template for a new project.
It appears to me that every new project will only have the option of ending on the date that my template ends on. Not choosing a future end date for NEW projects.
Unless I’m missing something.

Thanks
@Stacey_Battenburg, You can set up your template with either start date or end date. See How to Use Asana Project Templates | Product Guide • Asana Product Guide for details and how to change this.
Hope that helps,
Larry
It seems that a task in a template cannot be shared with another template. A thing very important for us, since we used different templates with some of tasks that where the same. Attaching a task to multiple templates was useful for templates maintenance.
@Rebecca_McGrath I am building out multiple templates on this new format. It is working great! However, I can’t find a way to edit the name of the template, only its contents. Can you direct me?
Also, I am not able to add an Overview to the template. I noticed you mentioned that Overview info will not carry over, but when I created a project and converted it to a template, then used the template, I can see the Overview tab did transfer to the created project. Can you update me on timing for including the Overview tab in project templates?
I do NOT have the option at the top of my template to select from “From project start date” vs “From project end date”.
@Stacey_Battenburg, Can you post a screenshot of what you’re seeing instead of the option to choose start or end date shown as “2” here:
If it isn’t clear, a new template now can be set up only in one manner: as based on start date or due date.
Larry
