A client of mine wished he could save the Timeline settings (the zoom on quarterly) but still wanted to keep the list layout as the default view. I thought it was not possible… until I tried the following!
Go the Timeline view, choose a Quarterly zoom. Save the layout as default. Go to the List view and save the layout as default. Voilà you get the list as the default but when switching to the Timeline, the Quarterly zoom is selected!
Pretty cool isn’t it?
