I’d like a feature like this. We route all of our incoming work items through forms and every request has the task name “Design, Web & Email Requests” submissions, that we then have to go and rename. Sometimes that’s 50-60 tasks coming in at the same time.
It’d be great if I could rename the task with a field from the form submission that’s already tied to a text field.
Welcome to the Asana Community Forum @Vova3!
I have merged your post into an existing thread so don‘t forget to upvote
Also have a look at Flowsana as you can achieve this with that tool.
Our use case:
We receive external tasks that can have multiple categories. One of them is a feature request. These are automatically added to the Feature Request section and I would like to have a rule that also updates the task name as follows: “FR | {task_name}”.
Yes I’m surprised this isn’t a thing yet, as I’d categorise it as basic functionality for enterprise work management software.
I’ll tell you why I missed this functionality today. I helped move the process for preparing laptops for new hires to Asana. If I was able to set the task name to: Laptop for {name of new hire}
we would be able to get all of the context from the task name.
Now we need to choose between:
All requests having the same name
All requests get the name of the new hire
Both don’t give enough context to be able to see at a glance what this task is about.
We have functionality like this in adding comments, and I feel it is needed here.
