Rules in "My Tasks" Running on tickets that are not my tasks - What am I doing wrong?

I have set up 2 rules in my tasks:

1 - When task is added to this project - Move task to section “Recently assigned”

2 - When task completion status is changes - Move task to section “Done”

Checking my inbox this morning, I have noticed that tickets which I have never been assigned to me before are now assigned.

The change log in the ticket shows that 2 rules ran, my rules:

Have I set up the rule incorrectly, or why are tasks that did not previously belong in “My tasks list” now assigned to me?

Another member of my team also set a rule in her “my tasks” section, which should leave a comment in a ticket assigned to someone else tagging her 3 days before the due date so she can check the status, and it is now assigning her.

Any help would be appreciated :heart:

Hi @Claire_Buckley welcome to the forum!

It looks as though your rules may have been set incorrectly. The completion of the task appears to be the trigger assigning the task to you and when it’s added to your my task it is triggering it to move to “DONE!”

You’ll want to check both your project rules as well as your My task rules to be sure everything is correct.

Best,

Jeremy

@Claire_Buckley,

In both your and colleagues cases where this happens, is it happening to a subtask?

If so, each of you should check all of your My Tasks rules Gear icon, then Runs on subtasks–you should toggle that off:

The explanation is complicated, but if they’re subtasks, try that.

Thanks,

Larry
