Remove windows wide crtl-shift-plus shortcut in 2025 ASANA

The Windows wide ctrl-shift- + shortcut to add an ASANA task is interfering with my usual workflow of unrelated Windows programs (Word, Excel). According to older posts in this forum (~ 2022), there used to be a way in to switch off this shortcut from “settings”. However, in the 2025 version of ASANA (desktop or online) version, I am unable to find the feature to switch off this windows-wide shortcut.

Does anyone have an idea or am I just missing something? Thanks all.

Hi @Annegret_Ulke-Lemee ,

I’m with you, global shortcuts clashing with everyday apps is super frustrating.

A couple of things to try:

  1. If you’re on the Asana desktop app for Windows, this behavior comes from the global quick add shortcut. Open the desktop app, click your profile photo > Settings. Look for Advanced or Shortcuts and toggle off Global keyboard shortcuts.

  2. Using Asana in a browser instead of the desktop app won’t register an OS-wide shortcut, so that’s an easy workaround if the toggle isn’t available.

  3. If Windows continues to intercept the keys, you can also remap the shortcut with PowerToys as a temporary fix.

A quick clarification that might help us narrow it down: which keys are you pressing exactly when the conflict happens? On Windows the Asana global quick add is usually Ctrl+Shift+A, while “plus” is often Ctrl+Shift+=. If you can confirm the exact combo and whether you’re on desktop or web, I can guide you more precisely.

If you don’t see a toggle to disable the global shortcut in the desktop app, please ping our support team with your app version so they can take a closer look: https://help.asana.com/s/article/how-do-i-get-support-from-asana?language=en_US

Thanks for flagging this. I’ll share this feedback with our team as well.
