RELATIVE DATES — The Most Useful Feature Asana Doesn't Have

Hi all,

I’ve been using Asana for several years, and there are a lot of things I like about it. The single biggest point of frustration for me, however, is that all dates are individualized. I can’t move a group of five tasks to a week later for instance—because they’d all just be moved to the same singular date.

I’ve been using the Instagantt integration to be able to select multiple tasks and move them around to get around this, but I also find instagantt to be unwieldy and awkward. It breaks frequently.

To me, it’s surprising that there’s no option, when setting a task date, to just set it to “Day 3 of Project”, or “8 Days After Task [enter task]”, and then have those tasks move dynamically based on the project/task they use as a relative anchor.

It would be so nice just to be able to move a task and automatically move the five sub-tasks within it. Right now it seems a little ridiculous that, if I want to move a group of tasks together, I have to use a completely separate integration to do it.

This is a feature that very few project management apps offer, and I believe would put Asana over the top.

Please, please consider adding it, or support this post if you’d like to see it added.

Thanks!

In case you weren’t aware, these are a couple ways in Asana itself to carry that out:
