Reduce size of unassigned section in timeline view when sorted by assignee

Is there a way to reduce the size of the unassigned section in timeline view when sorting by ? It takes up almost the entire screen even though nothing is in it.

Hi @Keaton_Newbold , I’m not clear on what the issue is. What would you like to fill the rest of the screen with, instead of the unassigned section?

Note, it may appear empty but you may find tasks if you scoll left/right.

More room for the assignees?? So our projects aren’t all cramped together with the rest of the screen being empty. That way the titles of each project could be fully displayed instead of being cut off. And I’ve checked unassigned both in the timeline view and list view and there’s nothing there

Ah ok, now that I understand the issue, here’s a few suggestions:

  1. In the Timeline view, you can drag and drop tasks (not projects, as you seem to describe them) so that they are stacked vertically on top of each other as you like. That way, they won’t truncate each others titles whikst also increasing the height of each assignee’s sesction in the Timeline view.
  2. The above can be easier achieved by simoly sorting your Timeline view by Start/Due date instead, which creates a stacked waterfall layout, without any truncation. However, you will lose your Assignee sections in this case.
  3. You could try using the Gantt view instead if the Timeline, which when sorted by Start date, also provides a similar waterfall effect. However, task titles will truncate around the 20th character in Gantt view which unfortunately is not adjustable, currently.

Lastly, if you see the Unassigned section in Timeline view, that means there are definitely tasks in your project that are unassigned, even if they are filtered in the List view or other views such as Board or Gantt. Or the could also be without a due date and therefore not show up in the Timeline view, in which case you could use the Unscheduled button in the Timeline view, to view them.

Got it, thank you! And yes, I did mean to say tasks. Thanks for your help!
