Just thinking of buying this after the trial ends and found this thread because I thought I was missing something whilst trying to schedule a client review for the 4th Monday of every month.
This is something that is necessary to my business and if Asana can’t provide it, I’ll find someone who can.
I just started using Asana and am very impressed with everything except this. I am coming over from from the very basic task manager in Outlook and even it has this option. I’m also trying out ClickUp and it has this option. I’m trying them both for a month before making my final decision, but not having this ability may be the deal breaker for Asana. Please at least update here if this is even in the works.
So many people need this, so sad it is not implemented yet. Have ToDoIst in parallel, there it works fantastic. And to be honest: I cannot see that this is a breaking-change feature, it is a (perhaps not that simple) algorithm to calculate the next appearance… so please, implement this feature!
My team has just started integrating Asana into our work day. One thing that would be incredibly beneficial would be to be able to add in a due date that is set to repeat on, say the 5th business day of each month. There is currently a way to repeat a task on the 5th calendar day every month, but not the 5th business day.
This would be super beneficial as a lot of organizations have items due by the business day and not calendar day.
This is indeed missing but you can check my tool to create real recurring tasks. I added this recurring pattern. Don’t hesitate if you have any question.
Am I missing something? I have a monthly email that needs to go out on the 3rd Monday of the month. I’d like to build this as a recurring task but it looks like I’m not able to do so?
This is kind of a tricky one as it can fall out of alignment, so you will have to periodically verify that it’s still on the first Monday. It will in theory however give you a task on the first Monday of the month for at least 10 of the 12.
Thanks, that’s the hack that was suggested by a coworker but it really kind of defeats the purpose of automation. I’ll use it for now, but having this feature upgraded to match most other systems I use that allow for recurrence settings would be better.
Thanks for the tip, @anon6244509 and thanks for your feedback, @anon71765907! This is a popular request in the Forum and hopefully something we can implement in future updates. I’ve gone ahead and merge your post with the main thread to consolidate feedback. We will post any updates as soon as we have news about this feature.
Over 2 years ago since my own comment, nearly 5 since this thread began and…nothing.
I’m moving to Click-up; as much as it pains me to start over again, this was such an essential feature that has ended up being a huge barrier to my work load and work pattern, so I’m going to have to try something else.
As much as I loathe being the “You won’t be getting MY business now” type, this really is such a simple, crucial and ultimately overlooked request.
This is the first thing I noticed I needed since I started using asana 4 months ago or so. It’s not encouraging that people have been asking for this for years and it hasn’t happened yet
It’s been years since this has been requested. Can we get anything more that “hopefully something in the future”. This is a pretty standard feature on almost all other programs. Why is it so difficult? I’m also reconsidering Asana. This is a massive part of my job now and I can’t be wasting my time.
