Question About User Removal and Project Ownership in Asana Business Plan

Hello Asana Community,
Thank you all for the continuous support here!

I have a question regarding the process of removing users who leave the company. To provide some context, my license is Business, so there are certain limitations.

Scenario:
I noticed that our IT team removed users without reassigning their projects to other team members. I tried restoring the user to remove them again and transfer ownership, but it didn’t work—the projects (both active and completed) were left without an owner.

I also noticed that when I filter by users who have already left the organization, nothing appears in the search results.

Support Points:
Could you clarify Asana’s behavior when removing users?

  • Scenario 1: Remove and transfer only open tasks — What happens to completed projects? Do they keep the removed user as owner or remain blank?

  • Scenario 2: Remove and transfer everything — Does this include all projects and tasks to the designated person?

  • Scenario 3: User removed without transferring tasks/projects — Is there any way to map all projects or transfer ownership afterward, considering that reactivating the user didn’t work?

Thank you so much for your help!
