Proposal for a Team Directory Feature in Asana

I’d like to propose the addition of a Team Directory feature in Asana. This directory would provide a centralized list of all users in the Asana account, displaying key information such as names, titles, roles, skills, location and contact details (it would be great to be able to add custom fields to it as well)!

Having a dedicated directory would enhance collaboration by making it easier for team members to find and connect with each other, especially in larger organizations. It would streamline communication and foster a sense of community within the platform, as users could quickly identify who to reach out to for specific projects or questions.

Hi @Janine_Hunt,

Don’t forget to vote for your own feedback.

That’s a good suggestion. I definitely feel the need for it.

Hi @Janine_Hunt , great suggestion.

However, I’ve managed to create this for my clients by using an Asana project with custom fields, where each task is a member. You could optionally assign the task to them to keep it updated, or simply use a People field so you can have their profile photo. The project can then be shared to the entire org, set to comment only so that only the project admins (usually HR or IT members) can only update the info.

Have you tried that?

PS: in one case, we used the due date as their Birthday, and have a rule to send them a Happy Birthday comment :tada:

PS2: if you have all this data in a spreadsheet you could easily get started by importing a CSV version into Asana. Or you can download my template for free; look for the :card_index: Company Directory template in my Custom field templates.
