I have a question regarding permissions for Project Status Updates in Asana.
Is it possible to restrict the ability to update the project status (On Track, At Risk, Off Track, etc.) so that only the Project Admin or a Super Admin can make changes, while other project members can still work on and update their tasks?
The requirement is to maintain governance over the overall project status and prevent other project members from changing it.
Is there a native permission setting for this, or would this require a workaround/automation?
In order to restrict who can change the project status, you would need to set everyone as a Commenter. Commenters are still able to make updates and edits to their tasks; however, they are not able to update the project status. For a full list of permissions you can see Individual project permissions.
@Ron_Sanga Thank you for helping. However, giving everyone Commenter access wouldn’t work in this case, as some team members still need Editor access to manage and update their tasks. The challenge is that once they have Editor access, they can also update the project status.
I was looking for an option to restrict only the project status updates while still allowing them to have Editor access, but it seems that this may not be possible natively.
