Thanks, @Anna_Zoucha, for adding this after our Slack, and welcome here!

@Vanessa_N, Some additional information in case it helps:

According to

my reading is that you have to be Editor or Project Admin in the project (not Commenter) in order to update status.

Since Request status update is in that menu to update the status, that’s not great because you’re denied the ability to request an update due to permissions.

I just tested and confirmed that. (And I noted that Guests cannot request status updates which also seems odd.)

Thanks,

Larry

Hi @lpb and @Anna_Zoucha, thank you so much for flagging this, and sorry for the trouble. To clarify, these users don’t have the ability to request updates, is that correct? I can’t seem to be able to replicate this on my end. I’ve tested this both ways, with a guest account with admin, commenter and editor status; and with a full member account, also with admin, commenter and editor status, but the option to request update appears in all cases.

Larry, you are correct, only editors and project admins can update the status, however, any project member can request a status update. Am I missing something? Happy to investigate this further

Thanks, @Vanessa_N!

Yes, that’s what I ran into, and why @Anna_Zoucha raised the topic initially.

I can’t explain why I was able to replicate what I think Anna saw, but it did operate as I described. Maybe there’s some other condition at play but I can’t think of what it would be.

Not sure how to proceed…

Thanks,

Larry

I wonder if differences in settings here could explain the discrepancy.

Thanks,

Larry

Thank you, @lpb! I’d recommend having Anna reach out to our Support team with the project URL and the screenshot. They will be able to look into the project and user permission settings to further investigate. I’ve asked our Support team, and they haven’t seen similar reports yet.

@Anna_Zoucha is that okay with you?
