It seems that the project search field inside the project details doesn’t really do much besides bold the name of the matching projects within the dropdown list that appears. It doesn’t filter the list to only show matching projects, and typing in the name of the project and pressing enter only adds the task to the project at the top of the list alphabetically. This happens in both the web version of Asana as well as the Mac OS standalone app.

Hi @Sourdface welcome to the forum. What do you mean by project search field? Just so I can make sure that we are on the same page

In the task details there is a field labeled “Projects” where you can click and type, and a dropdown appears after you click.

Yes, mine does this too, it’s very frustrating because I have to scroll through all the open projects to assign it, instead of being able to type in the first few letters and have the project self-populate there. And it didn’t used to do this, this is new in the last 6 months or so.
I correct myself I have to scroll through ALL projects even archived ones, so it’s ALOT.
Were you able to find a solution to this?
Is there a solution to this?
I have not found a solution. However the issue doesn’t seem to appear for Android, so maybe assigning projects via android will slightly reduce inconvenience.
