Portfolio timeline question for re-occurring timelines for various teams in my org. I have created a project within each specific teams portfolio which is solely used to track key events which reoccur annually for an estimated period, as they change slightly each year. I have added these projects from within each teams portfolio into a new portfolio, named timeline, which just houses all the timelines which are key, such as critical path, and the re-occurring ones. However, I have added 5 projects into the portfolio, viewable in the list view, but only 3 are visible in the timeline view? How can i fix this. I know you cannot add portfolios into portfolios but these are projects within a portfolio, which I want to add into a timeline portfolio. Is there an alternative way to do this which is better. I am still new to Asana
Thanks
Hi @Ibrahim_Goksu,
The timeline view in portfolio requires a couple of things for a project to show up:
- The project has Milestone(s) with (a) due date(s) OR the project itself has a due date or start- and due date
AND
- Any of these dates are near the window you are observing
I’m assuming the other projects will pop up when you scroll or zoom out to a date range for which that project has milestones.
What do you want to appear in the timeline? Is it milestones or the “bricks” (rectangles) representing the start/due date of the project:
If a project has either or both, they’ll appear in the timeline tab, otherwise not. (@Jan-Rienk, your reply doesn’t convey that, I think.)
Actually, you can, but it doesn’t help you because doing so disables the Timeline tab.
@lpb Adjusted the post for completeness/correctness.
Thanks for the addition!
Thank you all! I forgot to mark the event as a milestone and they only had one end date as I copied them from the other projects milestones. They now all appear. Thank!
