Hi everyone, thanks for taking the time to report the issue with the order of tasks in Calendar view and sorry again for the trouble!
Our product team has confirmed this issue should be fixed now. We reverted the change to month view that had the tasks show up in a new order. This means that if you rearrange tasks in week view, it won’t change the order of tasks in month view.
We’re going to start considering other updates to make your calendar more customizable depending on your workflow. Stay tuned for more updates in the future!
I love this new feature but it seems to have made another feature that I loved go away… In the old Calendar view; when you clicked on a task it would open in a pop up above the calendar. Now it opens in a right side panel and squishes all the calendar content over to the left; like when you open a task in the List view. I loved having it open in a pop-up because it was much less distracting to have it on it’s own above the page content. I know I can get that view by clicking on the 3 dot menu, but is there a way to default how a task view is opened?
I see what you mean, @Crystal_Clark! Tasks in Calendar view for My Tasks are now expanded in your left side pane (this is currently how it works in List, Timeline and Board view). As it stands, it’s not possible to change it or make it to open in full screen by default. If you are interested, you can request this feature via our #productfeedback and we will let you know when we have any news
wow - is this new(ish)?? I used to find that it automatically defaulted to the App. I hadn’t checked for some years(?), but glad to find that this is an option!
I am finding, on my computers Mac, OS 10.13.6, that the ‘week’ display does not show all of my tasks, whereas the ‘month’ display does. The ‘week’ display also only shows 5 lines & I have to scroll to see others, but it still doesn’t show everything for the week.
Looking at the browser on my iPad I do see all the tasks in the week view, though there is still a 5-line view that I scroll through which shows the same tasks as my computers, but then there are extra lines below which don’t scroll, and where the background is slightly darker … ??? The month display is the same on my iPad
I LOVE THIS FEATURE!!! Game changer to both have a week view AND to be able to re-order items! It’s helping me stay so much more organized! Thank you Asana!
Hi @Jan_Hetherington, thanks for reaching out! Could you try checking if the tasks are under the Unscheduled section when you open the calendar week view?
If you still cannot find the tasks, I recommend you reaching out to our support team and share the URL of one of the tasks that you see in Month view but not in Week view. They will be able to identify what is causing this issue: How to contact our Support Team ✉. I hope this helps!
Nice update! I’m new to Asana and so far the calendar has been the only disappointing aspect. Will you update to have it auto-organize tasks by the time due within each day?
Also, I would love to integrate my Asana calendars with my Google Calendar, as that is what our team uses for scheduling meetings. Right now, you can see all your asana tasks as an All Day event only, which is…just useless, and visually looks super weird. Please fix this so you can see Asana tasks in gCal by the date AND time due each day. Thank you!
One last idea, i use google calendar to schedule work blocks. It would be amaaaazing if Asana would create a Work Block feature for the My Tasks calendar, where somehow you can add tasks to a “workblock” so when the time comes to work on a project you will see all your tasks you need to work on in that hour or so. No idea how to make this function well, but just an idea!
Just wanted to drop a quick note to the product team: I’ve never used Calendar View because the month at a time was sort of depressing and overwhelming to me, but I’m really loving the new Week view, since it’s allowing me to zero in on what I care about right now and drag to reorder things. I used to work entirely from My Tasks List View, but now I find that I do a quick parse of List View when I start the day to triage anything new with a due date, then shift to Calendar Week View through my whole day as I check things off, and then close out the day by also doing a review of List View to try to handle anything else new that appeared.
This has really helped me get focused and try to be more realistic about what I can get done from my list in a given day–I’m loving it and am hoping to do an in-house set of tips on it for my whole team, who are still coming around to the idea of working singularly from My Tasks.
