Just to clarify, do you want to place the ID custom field column before the task name column in list view?
Currently, only the task name column is fixed as the first column, even though all other columns can be reordered.

I saw another request about the ID filed, so I’m wondering if I understood your request correctly. Thanks!

Adding ID to Task Name field

I would like to write a rule that appends the new ID field to the task name. So the format would be “Build this widget (ID-4377)” The issue I am having is how to make the rule to “wait” until the person finishes typing the Name using the Task is added to this project trigger. Is there anyway to get around this? What I am having to do is make the person manually update the task progress field (Normally would have the task set to “Not Started” on creation).

Yes, currently the farthest left you can put the column is after the Task Name field. For our company, the custom ID is the main identifier, as many tasks have the same name. So having the Custom ID as the farthest left column will make our project list easier to scan through, especially when looking for a certain task.

Hi @Shun_Sakurai Do you have any visibility into the demand for this enhancement? We also use numbers as quick identifiers for our tasks. Putting them in a custom field after the task title, believe it or not, isnt as effective as the ID being the first field.

Some of our directors have begun adding them to the beginning of task titles, which then leads to a large amount of work to remove those numbers when we need to create project task reports.
