Adding a task number

Hello, I really miss adding a number to a task so that there is the ability to quickly navigate through tasks, as is done in Jira. For example, I pin this link somewhere outside of Asana and want to quickly find a file related to this task, for example in Google Sheets.

We use the task ID number that is found in the URL. It is a long number, but it works.
When you enter this number in the search box, you immediately get the corresponding task.

There is a new type of Custom Fields called “ID” which gives you a unique ID for a project. With a rule, you can add that ID to the task name if you want.

Hi Bastien … The thing is, when you search for a task and the ID number is found in another form you get numerous search results. With the task ID you get just one … the task you are looking for.
The ID custom field is not an solution for everything.

Unless you do a search on the ID field for this specific value. And if your prefix is unique, like TXY, then I have doubt you’ll have any other match  when looking for “TXY-673”

I agree, with a unique prefix, but I do not have to worry about that with the task-id.

Sure, but my solution with a custom field works automatically, so what’s not to like :grimacing:
