I have an Asana Rule sending Asana Bot Messages every time a Task changes Sections (status update) to a Slack Channel I’m using to manage a project.
Since the message includes a preview of the Description, the whole Message takes up, like, 20 lines.
I think it would be cool if we could turn off the Description preview so the update just has the Task Assignee, Task Name, the View Task in Asana button, and More Options dropdown—so the whole message is only 3 lines + whatever message I want to add.
(I’ve talked with Slack too, and they said and my Asana support person said this was an integration managed by Asana, but isn’t an option that exists yet!)
I think this would benefit a lot of us, so please send some upvotes my way!
Hi, I second this suggestion! My company recently upgraded our Asana subscription so I’ve been exploring how to use custom rules with the Slack integration. I have an outsourcer who would usually post updates on Asana tasks and then post again on Slack about which tasks have new comments, I was very excited about automating this and have set up custom rules for it but our Slack channel is more messy now than it was before due to the task previews.
I’ll add an upvote to this one. The unfurled Asana info is distracting: my team keep clicking on the wrong link! Plus it takes up way more space in Slack than is needed. I’d like to be able to choose which fields it does show.
Same here. We love to use the Asana <> Slack integration which pings certain notification channels, but the displayed Asana task preview is so distracting with irrelevant text, it gets visually overwhelming and people miss the key information of the actual message or comment.
