When hovering over a text field in list view we get a small handle to visit the link:
This option doesn’t show up in the board view:
I’m sure it’d save plenty of clicks/mouse movement if it did. 
(And it’d be more useful than the shorter version of the link that is visible in the tooltip under the field name.)
I agree. You get the option, you but you have to click into the text field, then hover over the link again.
On a related note: The cards aren’t really compact, and one of the causes is that the links often take up the entire width of the card, pushing it to the next line.
Now I understand that for when it’s text that isn’t a link, as it often takes a handful of words to comprehend the message. But the purpose of using a text field for a hyperlink isn’t to read the link, but to be able to click it.
When it is a link (which Asana is already able to recognise), I don’t see any reason why it shouldn’t become shorter (maybe even as short as a third of the card) so that it will fit more often, and take less vertical space:
