Microsoft Teams Integration and Notifications

Hi All,

I’m trying to make use of the Asana integration to Microsoft Teams and I came across some instructions for setting up notifications that I could not find in my Asana instance. See the two screenshots below along with the link to where I grabbed these screenshots from. Essentially I am getting stuck at the instruction of “In the + menu, select Link Project”. I’m not seeing it. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Microsoft Teams & Asana • Asana

Hi @Sean_Hoster, thanks for reaching out! Let’s try to solve this together.

Are you currently trying to follow the steps in a private channel in MSTF teams? Looking forward to your reply!

Hi @Emily_Roman, thanks for your reply. I don’t believe it is a private channel. How could I confirm that?

Hi @Sean_Hoster, the private channel have a lock icon besides its name:

Hi @Emily_Roman, no, it doesn’t appear they are private channels…

@Emily_Roman Any update on this?

Hi @Sean_Hoster, apologies for the late follow-up here! If the team is public, please follow these steps to link your project notifications:

  • Access the General Team
  • Click “New conversation”
  • You will see the Asana logo in the toolbar of the conversation

  • Click the + icon in the top right corner of the pop-up window and select Link project

I hope this helps!

Thank you! I think that did it!

Hi there. I am having some issues linking projects to specific channels in Teams. When I select “Link Project,” it gives me a pop-up that says to connect the Asana bot. I have already installed the Asana app to my Teams app and have added an Asana tab in a few channels. Despite this, it still gives me the pop-up that is linked to the instructions on how to integrate the two and I am unable to find an answer to this question. I have attached a few screenshots that show this issues and that I have integrated the app with Teams. Please let me know if you can help me with this so I am able to link projects to Team channels. Thank you!

@anon2489878 have you seen @Emily_Roman’s suggestion from this post: Asana bot cannot link projects in Microsoft Teams ?

I have and I believe I have it figured out. I am finding that if I am the only one in a Team and I try to link a project, it doesn’t allow me to. If others on the Team or channel have the Asana bot, it allows me to link the channel. I am having some trouble linking specific projects to a tab on a channel though which I am not totally sure how to do. Thank you!!

Hi Cassidy, I’m trying to accomplish the same. Having different Team channels for different projects in Asana and linking them.
At the moment, I can only link all projects to the Asana bot channel, which is not great as all notifications appear on the same bot channel - very messy.
Have you managed to find out how to achieve this?
Thanks
