I noticed there is a thread about this enhancement, but it is in the Tips and Tricks category. I think it is important that it is here in Product Feedback for it to be implemented. Making it easy to notify multiple people
It’s simply the integration need to be able to notify an entire team with a single @team and have it notify each of them as if you had typed @Name1@Name2@Name3@Name4.
It’s a simple thing that is in almost every organization and chat platform.
Looking forward to doing this soon to optimize time.
@RAQUEL_ALVAREZ_VICO - This functionality exists now (the thread you referenced is outdated). You can @-mention teams in Asana and they all receive a notification (the author of the comment will not receive a notification if they are also in the team, as people that trigger notifications do not receive them in Asana).
EDIT: the above is apparently incorrect…apologies for any confusion
@RAQUEL_ALVAREZ_VICO - your comment (with the link to Sales team) should trigger a notification in the inbox of every team member except yourself, so in this case, Alex should receive a notification that a comment was added on this task. Can you confirm with them that they did/did not receive that notification?
@RAQUEL_ALVAREZ_VICO - wow my apologies, my testing methodology was flawed; I think you are right that doesn’t ping the whole team (don’t know what the value of @-mentioning a team is otherwise…). I’ve un-solved this and reverted back to a feedback request
@RAQUEL_ALVAREZ_VICO (welcome to the forum ) , @Stephen_Li ,
This is currently expected behaviour and a popular feedback request which you can vote on here:
Can I merge this thread along with the votes so far, so they all get consolidated into one?
Would be wonderful if @ tagging a team would notify all those members. If the concern is that teams aren’t always used that way or shouldnt be notified, making it an option for a team to be taggable when creating the team would help alleviate that or simple baking that into a users preferences for granular control.
@Technology_Team@Product_Team checking back in on the question of can we tag multiple people in a comment without individually tagging each person? Can’t seem to find if this has been resolved or not since 2017
We’re looking for a way to create custom groups that can be mentioned with @ in comments or messages.
These wouldn’t represent Asana Teams, but rather recurring working groups, for example:
Weekly Steering Committee
UAT Team
Growth Marketing Meeting
Vendor Review Board
Membership would change over time and could include both internal users and guests. We’d like Team Admins (or business users) to be able to manage these groups without involving IT or Organization Admins every time someone joins or leaves.
Is there a native way to create and manage these types of mention groups in Asana, or what would be the recommended approach?
I’ve merged your post into an existing topic where you can click the title to scroll to the top and vote by clicking the Vote button at the top-left.
I’m afraid I can’t think of any suitable workaround. Perhaps exploring more of your underlying workflows that generate this need might uncover another approach or workaround that way.
