+1 for me too
We 100% need a completion feature. This has been requested for years. It would also be useful to mark sections of larger projects complete. Currently the only options are to collapse the unused section or delete it, which deletes the entire task history along with it. It seems strange that a task tracking service like Asana wouldnāt prioritize a features as fundamental as āmark completeā after years of requests.
This is 101 requirement for any project management tool and as you can read above almost everybody is asking for it. Can we please tag a product manager in this thread to expedite this feature
New user here, and just to find out that this function was called for 2 years, but still unsolved. We are in the consideration of changing to pay mode, but such small tasks ignored really holds me back.
Hi! I am loving Asana, but I really miss this feature. I registered on the forum only to +1 this:
Please do add a āproject completeā feature. ![]()
Same here. Completing projects formally and aligning all other metrics with the completed status is key for proper portfolio management. +1 here. Please enable other statuses like complete or on hold.
Iāve actually seen this very same request on other threads. We really need a project completion feature, especially for portfolio management (yes weāve developed work arounds, but it should be a status that is built-in). I love Asana, but the lack of traction on this important request is disappointing.
New user here that has been evaluating Asana with a client for their potential adoption. The question came up on how to mark a project ācompleteā and I couldnāt figure it out and stumbled across this thread looking for the answer. I canāt believe this hasnāt been taken care of in the ~2 years it has been so widely requested. Itās going to be difficult for my client to adopt Asana, not so much because of the missing feature but because of the lack of response for this feature over such a long period. It doesnāt give me any confidence in the company long term. Why would a company do this to themselves?
@Natalia Is there some technical reason this canāt be completed in a short time frame? It confuses me that such a simple and highly demanded feature canāt be added.
Itās preventing me from making the switch to the paid version and I would imagine iām not alone.
Can this option simply be added to the status update drop down?
This feature is critical Asana. It seems as if many of your users are feeling the same way. Please make this an accessible feature for our sanity and clarity. ![]()
Weāve been waiting on this for years and still nothing? This is a really necessary feature. Is there a reason why this hasnāt been addressed?
+1 PLEASE add the option to complete a project
yeah archiving a project doesnāt mean a project is complete. I might archive a project because I put it on indefinite hold, or because I cancelled it.
metrics on project completion are pretty fundamental. without it I canāt justify paying for a project management tool.
Added my vote here for this long requested feature.
Really it should be a custom field as each of us will have unique needs. I assume some of the ālockdownā has something to do with how the status is integrated in other screens and understand how custom fields could complicate that.
That said, particularly as it relates to portfolios, if I could have custom fields I would start with
- Planned/Not Started
- On Track
- At Risk
- Off Track
- Complete
- Deferred
Would love to know that stats of how many ppl actually us the at risk and and particularly the Off Track Values!
Concurring with everyone here. As a potential new subscriber who is just investigating and learning about Asana, this is a big āXā on the requirements/functionality list. I too canāt understand why this doesnāt exist after so many requests.
On behalf of my team, I would also like to put in a vote for this feature. It would be ideal if the Status updates on a project could be customized, or if they could at least include the following options as outlined by a previous poster:
- Planned/Not Started
- On Track
- At Risk
- Off Track
- Complete
- Deferred
Great idea, just archiving it does not give the right information as why it was archived. Currently we use a Color system for that - green on track, yellow is planning, orange is approved for planning, grey is deferred or not started, etc.
It is extremely frustrating to see simple and intuitive additions/updates like this sit in the support forum for like this years, with loads of people asking for the solution, people from Asana continually chiming in and ~teasing~ that it maybe, someday, might get done if enough people upvote it. Come ON!!!
There is already a status on projects⦠ADD COMPLETE!
FOR FREAL, as a new user it is DISAPPOINTING AS ALL GIT OUT to look for a solution and see nearly THREE years worth of people asking for ASANA to add a feature for one thing that is remarkably similar to another (Project complete, task complete).
Question to the public here:
How late is too late to start thinking about finding a better project management software?!?!
As a relatively new user to Asana, Troy who has now hit this refusal to add simple updates roadblock I would strongly encourage you NOT to choose this software.
Like, for example something simple as adding a due date to an intake form⦠go look for that feature, youāll see a 5 year old thread full of empty promises and pissed off people.
Donāt be one of those people.
