I am a single user, not a business. I have used Asana for about four years.
My free trial ended today, and I was suddenly locked out of my main calendar with a message about custom fields, which I did not use, as far as I know. Asana does not show what these “paid features” are or how to remove them.
Exporting to CSV is not a solution (not to mention, that CVS looks like a disorganized mess, to put it politely). I was able to keep using this calendar after a trial ended before, so this feels arbitrary and retroactive.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - what feature is blocking access and how to remove it so I can continue on the free plan?
It’s really frustrating how a company like Asana treats their users, luring them into a “free trial”, then getting them locked out of their data.
Larry @lpb is absolutely correct - the Sales Team is the way to go. You can use the https://asana.com/sales form to reach out to the Sales Team about this issue.
The pricing page will give you a detailed breakdown of which features are the paid ones.
I haven’t changed access permissions since I’m the only one using Asana, any idea what other premium features I need to delete? I got my free trial extended, but I have no idea what to do to keep access to my calendar once the trial ends again…
Here’s a screenshot for a reference (taken after my first free trial ended) - this has never happened before, even after my last “free trial”, and I didn’t use Asana any differently than all 3 years before this happened. Is there a person on Asana team who could look into my account and fix this for me or tell me what is causing this?
Also, it looks like I’m not the only one encountering this issue, some other users on Reddit and whatnot report the same problem, with no solution to be found.
The exact same thing has happened to me. Usually you can just downgrade and it blanks out the premium features but it seems that has been changed and now I can’t see any of my projects.
Here this says you’re locked out because that project uses paid custom fields.
To fix this, create a new blank project to use as a “standard field” baseline. Compare it to your locked project and remove any fields that don’t appear in the baseline project. This will revert the project to the free version and restore your access.
