Hello!
I have multiple projects created from the same template. And at one point an assignee has to complete a task that is shared between all these different projects.
Is there a way for the assignee to link tasks together so that these tasks can be marked complete all at once across the different projects? Like some kind of dependency?
Beyond the convenience factor, I would like to keep a record of the fact that this task was completed for all these different projects at the same time in the same batch.
I tried adding the task to other projects by enabling the “projects” field , but that’s no good because it duplicates the task into that other project and puts it at the top (wrong place), and doesn’t mark the existing task there in that other project as complete. One would still need to go in each individual project and reorder and then merge the duplicates.

Just to add it it, my problem is I don’t know in advance which projects will be linked together when I create those projects. I would like to link tasks together after they have already been created.
Hi @Rui_Ning_Wang, welcome to the Asana Community forum
I suggest multi-homing a single task in these many projects. A task can belong to up to 20 different projects at any given time and any actions carried out on the task will be reflected in all projects.
For more on multi-homing tasks, check out our Guide → How to Complete Task Fields in Asana | Product Guide • Asana Product Guide
I hope this helps!
Thank you Rebecca for your help! However this solution does not fully resolve my issue. As I said, the tasks already exist separately in each project. If I now go to one of the project and multihome that task, it will appear in the other projects, but not at the right place and the previously created task is still there. I then have to go into each individual project, to reoder it into the right place and delete the duplicate.
Like I said, I’m looking for a solution to link together different instances of a same task that have already been created in different projects.
