When I have tasks grouped by due date in list view, the date picker automatically closes after changing the due date. (when editing the due date column)
I then have to go find my task again to also change the start date.
I feel I should be able to complete this operation without interruption.
Yup, I have the same issue when I want to also set a time! Voted
I guess the current behaviour was actually launched based on this:
Briefly describe (1-2 sentences) the Bug you’re experiencing: It appears a new version of Asana rolled out where you need to now click twice whenever you set a date on a task. This doubles the number of clicks to do this operation. Normally I would adjust a task date (one click) and then Tab + Y; now it is click date, click outside of the window, then Tab + Y.
Steps to reproduce:
Select a task
Click the Due Date field
Click a date
Notice the date select window does not close
Browser versio…
Is it?
The A/B test finished a few days ago and after analysing the results, we’ve decided to go ahead and roll the new date picker. We’re aware that by doing so, we have removed the ability to close the date picker automatically after selecting the due date and we want to thank you for your feedback. Rest ensured that we’re looking at options to implement this feature or some replacement for it. I will use this thread to keep you updated.
Allowing click and drag for due date range (without having to click 'add start date') would solve the date case, but not the time case.

I believe Asana2Go (Disclaimer: I’m the creator) will address all these issues:
There have been many requests over the years for better support for mouseless setting of dates, with a more streamlined UI, fewer keypresses, using natural language, and with customizable keyboard shortcuts.
I’m happy to report that a new and very different kind of feature for Asana2Go provides all of this now! (Disclaimer: I’m the creator)
