click and drag for due date range (without having to click 'add start date')

I feel adding a due date range on tasks can be smoother.

Currently when I want to add a range for a due date:

  • I click the due date field to add due date. Then I need to:
    – switch to add start date and select a range OR
    – add due date first, then select start date and select start date
    Most often though:
    – I click what I had in mind for the start date, realise I’ve actually selected the due date, and start over.

The click-and drag feature is already there, but it only becomes available after selecting start date.

Why don’t we enable click and drag straight away?

Good suggestion @Jan-Rienk I suggest merging this post with the one open previously so as not to split the vote.

@Rashad_Issa I didn’t add it because it is actually a separate request. The other post is about the calendar view. This one is about the interface after clicking the due date.

I expect this request is a lot easier to implement, as the functionality is already there, whereas doing this in the calendar view probably requires a redesign of the calendar view.
