Hi All! I have set up the Asana ↔ Jira integration but when I change the assignee in Jira it makes the Asana assignee blank. Going from Asana to Jira it does assign the newly chosen assignee. I have ensured email addresses for the user profiles match, but I am not sure what is happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ![]()
Hi Sarah, did you manage to solve this issue? I’m experiencing the same behavior and would appreciate any insights.
Any luck? I am now experiencing the issue as well.
No I have not found a solution
Also dealing with same issue and would love some input from Asana team.
If you’re still struggling with this, and open to consider a commercial solution, have a look at Unito. It allows you to map users (automatically or manually) and sync assignees.
Full disclosure: I do work for Unito ![]()
Hi! ![]()
This is actually one of the common limitations of the native Asana ↔ Jira integration. If the integration can’t reliably match the Jira user to an Asana user, it often clears the assignee instead of assigning the correct person.
Since you’ve already confirmed the email addresses match, I’d also check:
- whether the user exists in both systems and has the required permissions,
- whether there are any sync errors in the integration logs,
- and whether the assignee field is configured for bidirectional sync.
If this behavior becomes a recurring issue, you may want to look at dedicated integration solutions like Getint. We support reliable user mapping between Jira and Asana and handle assignee synchronization much more consistently, especially in more complex environments.
Hope that helps! ![]()
