Jira sync doesn't trigger on automations

Encountering an issue where the Asana/Jira plug-in does not trigger as expected when an automation adds a task to a board.

In detail:

  • Board B has an automation configured in the plug-in that syncs a Jira issue when an issue is added to the board
  • Manually add a task to board B - voila, works as expected and the task is auto-created on the team’s project in Jira
  • Task is on board A
  • Task has a field updated that moves it to board B via automation
  • Task is added to board B
  • Nothing happens

Because we have an intake form in Asana that needs to pass work into Jira for dev teams, this is a critical part of our process that I am currently manually operating. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has a workaround.

Hi @Anthony_Fabbricatore - I had this same issue. It turns out the rule that the integration generates (to create Jira ticket when a task is added to the project) does not have the “Allow the rule to be triggered by other rules” selected. Once I selected this, I was able to generate Jira tickets off another rule from a different project. Hope that helps!
