Is there a way to sync .csv file changes to asana without making it a fully new project

I have a current project in Asana and have exported the .csv to review. I like the current layout, but am onboarding someone onto my team and have many changes to make to the project to make it easier for me to bring someone new onto my team. If I make changes to this spreadsheet, is there a way for me to then re-import the CSV with changes to the current project and see the changes reflected in the project (without creating a new project altogether?) I have already started the new employee, and she’s already got notes and other documents in the tasks, so I don’t want to start a new project, just am wondering if any changes at this point have to be made within the platform, or if I can update the .CSV and just reorganize the current tasks in a way that may make more sense to the team.

Welcome to the forum, @Tristen_Lawrence1! What changes did you make? Are you trying to edit/overwrite existing task data or just create new tasks? You can import csv files to existing projects, but it will create a new task for each row (same behavior as creating a new project from an import).

Thanks, Stephen, thanks for your response! I haven’t yet made the changes, but I definitely would be edit/overwrite existing task data within the spreadsheet.

So, question for clarity: If was to export a project, make changes to the existing tasks (rename them, or potentially change which section/column they are assigned) and then import the .csv file back to the same project, then I would potentially be creating duplicate tasks (i.e. Asana would set them up as new tasks?)

Correct, you can then merge duplicates in Asana but I believe you have to do it manually (one by one).

Ok, sounds good. I’m still trying to figure out the best way to go in and reorganize projects once they are in swing and sort of thought if I could export it, make all the changes, then re-import them that this would be the most effective, but I can see that its probably better for me to just make the changes directly in the interface if I don’t want to have to merge duplicates. Probably about the same amount of work in the end either way. Thank you!
