I’m having the same issue where /i can create a manual trigger but have no way to execute it. Tried in app and via browser.
@Jennie_Chafin are you also on a Legacy tier?
Per Julio_V’s post, the issue seems related to Legacy Tiers and this has been escalated to the relevant team to look into.
I currently use manually set custom fields as rule triggers (as I’m sure many do). I’ll be interested to see if this feature will improve my workflow … or if it’ll just be a different way to do what I’m already doing.
I tried it too; the trigger doesn’t exist outside of the rule builder just as everyone else is experiencing. We are a brand-new company to Asana.
I feel like if it could be a button on the task or project layout or somewhere more convenient than within the “more” or right-click functionality
- There are currently no buttons on tasks for any actions, including those more common than this one, so I’m not sure that would be consistent with the current design, and
- I don’t think it would be so clear to place it elsewhere in the project layout generally because it applies only to the selected task.
If/when it’s possible to manually trigger rules for multiply-selected tasks, I would expect it to appear in the footer multi-select toolbar, though.
Thanks,
Larry
Hi everyone,
Our team has applied a fix for this issue, and the feature should now be available on Legacy plans.
@Ludwig_V could you kindly confirm if this is resolved on your end?
Thanks, @Julio_V, I can confirm both affordances are now found as expected in my Phoenix legacy env!
@Julio_V can confirm it is working as intended now
Thank you for your assistance!
I just wanted to offer my favorite use case for this so far: We have an event project that goes through an approval process and then the majority of the tasks beyond that point are assigned to me. I have created a manual rule to add a task to a 1:1 with my supervisor as a reminder of anything that I may need to discuss in person.
With the introduction of manual rule triggers it is even more important to have the ability to sort the rules. When using a custom “Action” field, you can show the rules in a logical sort, when you use the run a rule option you see the rules as they are in the rulebuilder.
