Introducing AI Studio: proactive rule suggestions - Smart automation recommendations tailored to your workflows!

Hi everyone, :waving_hand:

We’re excited to introduce a new way to save time and reduce manual work with :sparkles: Proactive rule suggestions in AI Studio. This feature helps you identify automation opportunities based on patterns in your team’s workflow, making it easier to streamline your processes without extra effort.

Some of you may have noticed this earlier during the rollout, but it’s now fully available to all eligible users!

:robot: Here’s how it works:

Asana analyzes the actions your team performs regularly, like moving tasks between sections or updating custom fields, and suggests rules to automate those steps. In some cases, you’ll also receive AI-powered rule suggestions that can predict the right values based on the task’s context.

Suggestions appear directly in your projects, so you can review and apply them without interrupting your work.

For example:

  • :pushpin: If your team consistently moves tasks to a specific column and sets a custom field like “Priority,” Asana might suggest a rule to automate that entire process.
  • :chart_increasing: For more complex workflows, it could recommend an AI rule that fills in fields automatically based on similar past actions.

This is a great tool for less experienced users to learn the benefits of adding rules to their projects!

These suggestions are driving me up a wall, especially with the badges trying to get my attention. I’m turning it off as soon as I can figure out where the setting is - I don’t see it anywhere in my account settings. Help?

That said, I wanted to raise the flag anyway since our process is likely not unique. We use a lot of custom fields to specify values for common data points like who the print vendor is, whether the due date is flexible or not, whether the product is permanent or limited edition, which market the task is for, etc. These fields are filled out after a task is generated from an intake form.

All of the rule suggestions I’ve received so far are trying to set custom field B when custom field A changes, but the information in those fields are completely independent of one another, and the pattern the AI is picking up on is simply that the fields are being filled out sequentially from the top top of the list to the bottom.
