I have been helping my team properly update their notification settings in Asana to avoid overwhelm, but all of us are experiencing the same issue - It’s like “whack a mole” when we try to uncheck the notification boxes in the “project level” notification settings! Is this a bug?
Very frustrating, time consuming and it’s making an already difficult task of getting the team to use Asana daily, into a super difficult task. I used to be able to uncheck and check those boxes without issues.
I also reached out to support and did all the refreshing, logging in and out, and reopening the app, none of it worked.
Hi @Alexia_P, sorry for the hassle. Can you share more details about the issue your team is experiencing? Do you mean that clicking doesn’t check/uncheck the boxes?
I have also been experiencing issues with the general ‘Settings’ modal. Even in the Display tab, such as checking the box for ‘Show row numbers’ would uncheck it after a second. It seems to be intermittent - it did it yesterday (during a training session I was giving, which was a bit embarrassing ) but today seems to be fine .

Many times, unfortunately during trainings, when advising people to turn off the tasks added notification, they report that it’s repeatedly nearly instantly turning back on after the uncheck it.
Thanks for the screenshot, @Bryan_TeamKickstart! I’ve tested in my profile notifications settings and was able to replicate this as well. I’m escalating this to our Developers for investigation.
@Vanessa_N The problem has persisted for almost all team members at my company for at least a couple of months now.
It is still persisting today.
We are remote, so it cannot be the internet.
When I uncheck the box for one type of project notification, it checks the other boxes, and when I go to uncheck those, it checks off the other unchecked boxes. It’s random, and quite frustrating.
My whole team needs to update their project notifications manually (there is still no way to batch them and do it more efficiently) and they cannot set aside a 1 hour timeblock. In the past, this unchecking of the notification boxes has taken myself and other colleagues 5-10 mins maximum.

Hi @Alexia_P, no worries at all. Initially I was checking the member notification settings in projects, so I couldn’t replicate the issue. But thanks to Richard’s and Bryan’s replies, I realized the problem was in the profile notification settings and managed to replicate it.
I’ve already escalated this to our Developers, and hopefully, it’ll be fixed soon. I’ll keep you posted with any updates I get from the team.
I’ve noticed this too, but months ago, not recently. Also embarrassing because it was while sharing my Asana screen with clients! Back then, I was pretty sure it was fixed by an incognito window (some Chrome extension was interfering, I thought), but perhaps that was just a coincidence since the problem was intermittent.
