Hi everyone,
I would like to be able to automatically track the sub-tasks progress in the project status update.
The highlights only seem to allow this for tasks and milestones.
(I also tried to make the sub-task into a milestone, but this didn’t work).
Anyone know a way around this?
Thank you

Hi @anon91524410
Welcome to the Asana Community Forum!
Please have a look at this guide
In many cases, subtasks don’t count because they aren’t technically part of the project. Every time you can, consider promoting subtasks into real tasks. Some companies do forbid subtasks altogether!

Hi @anon91524410, thanks for reaching out! As a workaround, you can add subtasks to the project following these steps: How to Use Asana subtasks | Product guide • Asana Product Guide
Hi @Emily_Roman , I already used this tip especially for seeing the subtasks marked with the colour of the project.
But if I duplicate the project, the subtasks will be duplicated in the original project and the new project. Do you know what I mean? How can I solve this issue?
Many thanks in advance
Hi @SylviaW, I see what you mean! When you duplicate a project and the subtasks are part of the project, they will duplicate twice. This is a bug our team is investigating but we don’t have an estimate ETA to resolve! In the meantime, I recommend you removing the subtasks from the template project. Apologies for any inconvenience!

Hi! Any updates here? Subtasks are an integral part of how my team works and organizes. My team likes having them neatly nested in under the parent task, and having to add them to the project as their own task defeats their purpose entirely. Would love to have them as part of the status updates which are also now an important part of how our team communicates.

Thanks for sharing your feedback @Emily_August! I recommend you to upvote for this feature here: Allow to automatically add subtasks to project. Subtasks don’t appear in the status updates because they are not automatically added to the project. We don’t have immediate plans to implement this option we will make sure to continue sharing your feedback with the product team so they can consider it in future updates.
