Today in my Asana Office Hours webinar, someone brought up a great use-case that I wanted to share here! The challenge was to build an NPS intake & dashboard entirely in Asana without having to rely on spreadsheets or back-of-the-napkin math.
I definitely had to take it offline to get everything operating smoothly, but wanted to share here in case others were looking to do something similar!
The TLDR;
Asana Form
Of course, it all starts with a form. Make sure your NPS Score is either numeric or that you have a rule in the back-end that converts your single-select value to a number.
Project & Custom Fields
Create an NPS specific project that auto-identifies your passives, detractors, and promoters through rules. You will also need to create a numeric custom field & rule that tallies each as they come in (I only did detractors and promoters, but you can add passives if you want to measure them).
Custom Fields
- Numeric Field: NPS Score
- Numeric Field: Detractors
- Numeric Field: Promoters
- Single-Select Field: Promoter/Detractor
Portfolio
Create a Portfolio to house your NPS project. Hide all the default fields and create what you need from scratch:
- Roll-Up Custom Fields – Create 2 Roll-Ups on your Detractor/Promoter tallies.
- % Formula Custom Fields – Create 2 Formulas to calculate the % of each (e.g. %Promoters = Promoters/(Promoters+Detractor Rollups)
- NPS Formula Custom Field – Create 1 Formula that populates your final NPS Score (%Promoters - %Detractors)*100 to make it a whole number
