How to Create a Custom 'Related Project' Field That Links a task to Other Projects?

I am currently exploring ways to better link tasks and projects within Asana and am interested in creating a custom field that functions as a “Related Project” reference. Ideally, this custom field within a board would allow selecting or linking to another existing project and display that related project’s title in a dropdown or tag-like format—similar to how dependencies work but directly in a custom field.

I understand that there are some workarounds, like inserting URLs in text fields, but this solution has limitations, such as incomplete display of task titles.

Could you please share if there is any existing method, best practice, or upcoming feature that supports this type of “Related Project” custom field? Additionally, if you have found creative workarounds or integrations to achieve a similar outcome, I would appreciate your insights.
