How to create a chart for identifying/take a count of a number of dependencies on any task in the board?

Hi Everyone

I have created 2 Boards in Asana:

  1. RAID log
  2. Team Backlog

As per process, we create any dependency of the task in Team backlog as a separate task in RAID Log. Now, I want to identify the total number of task in Team backlog blocked /delayed due to any dependencies plus which dependency blocks what tasks. Is there a way I can achieve this.

Sorry, can’t paste the screenshots due to organization policies. Let me know if any additional data is needed .

@Deepika_Sethi,

In your Team Backlog project, consider using Options to turn on the two dependency columns:

Use a chart like this in Dashboard to show Overdue tasks:

When you look at the chart in the dashboard, click on the number to see in detail the list of 18 tasks that make it up.

For blocked tasks, do an advanced search like this:

then star the results to name the search and save in your left sidebar for reuse.

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks Larry… Knowing about new fields (blocked by, blocking) does help. However, we are not currently adding Due dates to tasks with known dependency and are using a custom field for Required by Quarter … Also, I am looking to get the information even before the tasks become overdue to highlight challenges in completing a task by decided deadline.

@Deepika_Sethi, Perhaps you can use some of the approaches I mentioned to arrive at a solution, or someone else will offer ideas. I usually work directly and interactively with clients on detailed workflow questions to makes sure we arrive at the best solutions.

Thanks,

Larry

Thanks @lpb. Let me see if I can modify some of your suggestions
