How to Change Primary Domain and Reclassify Users as Guests?

Hi everyone,

We’re looking for help on how to properly change the primary domain associated with our Asana organization and manage user permissions accordingly.

Current setup:

  • Our current primary domain is @oldco.com
  • Users with this domain are automatically considered members

What we want to achieve:

  • Set @newco.com as the new primary domain
  • Ensure that users with @newco.com emails become members
  • Have users with @oldco.com emails reclassified as guests

Context:
Newco is a parent company that brings together several business units that were previously operating independently. We’re now working to unify everything under the @newco.com domain in Asana, while keeping all current workflows and project structures unchanged.

If anyone has gone through a similar transition or has tips on the best way to handle domain management and user roles, your input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Batuca_BTP , welcome to the forum.
I was going to advise how to do this on your own until I read this point:

That’s the tricky part so I suggest your best bet is to contact Asana support that could likely do most of this on the backend and guide you through it.
Be patient, though, it may take several days for a response and to conclude the process.
