How to archive company goals?

Hello,

We use Company Goals to keep track of our strategic plan goals so that everyone in the company can see and work on them. It works well for this.
At the end of Q4, we will have come to end of a 3 year plan, and will start with a new one in Q1 2026.

How do I archive the current goals so that I can input the new ones? If I “close” a goal, I can only choose Achieved, Partial, Missed, or Dropped. Regardless, it is still there. I don’t want the old goals cluttering up and confusing everyone. We use Dropped for a goal that has been discarded, not for one that has been completed. We want the previous goals to be accessible, but not in the way of the new ones. I don’t want to permanently delete them either. I can’t intuitively figure out a solution. Is there one?

Have you considered using the Time periods filter at the top right of the goals page:

As you can see above, it will filter out all existing goals that are in other timeframes, so if you chose 2026, you’d only see those.

I think that’s what Asana had in mind for this need.

Thanks,

Larry

I can use a filter, but can I set a filter for the whole group as an Admin? Trying to get everyone in the company to use a filter is not as easy as it sounds.

I’m afraid everyone will have to set their filter (just as they have to set the Teams selector within the Teams tab if you use those).

I sympathize; I can appreciate that it’s not easy. To help and formalize, I sometimes make a parent (grouping task) to track this, then in it, one subtask titled “Set Goals filter for 2026” with full description/screenshots within, and a due date of 1/1/26, say.

Then the magic: With that task open in the task details pane, click Assignee then Assign to multiple people." In the dialog, choose your All Staff team (or set of teams that covers everyone). After you submit the dialog, you’ll get individual subtasks for all appearing in their My Tasks, which you can track here all at once.
