I’m an Admin, and the Owner of this (and other) projects; how do I see what people will be notified of an update (see snapshot below). In this case, there are more than 4 Members of the project.
As far as I’m aware, the first Post in a new Conversation will show the number of people notified as derived from the users added to that specific Project. I think once the initial post has gone out, then it begins to add collaborators based on other comments and tags. So the initial post could go to 10 people (those on the Project), but then if only 5 people engage with that post (like it, comment, etc.), then future posts are only going to that group of 5.
Just to clarify: the initial post in a Conversation does not go to the number of people on the Team where the Project resides, but only on that specific Project. Maybe you’re aware, but that can trip people up at times because the Team has people in it but new Projects can have different people.
As @Joel_Charles very well explained, when someone posts in a Project Conversation, all the Project members and the those non-members that are @mentioned in the conversation will receive a notification.
After that, when someone comment on a post, a notification will be sent to the author of the post, to the ones that have previously engaged on the conversation and to those @mentioned in the post or any of the post’s previous comments.
You can read more about Project Conversations in this handy article: Send Messages to Other Asana Users • Asana Product Guide
As a Project Owner, you can also manage and adjust notification for any Project Member in the “Member Notification Settings”
You just need to:
- Click the Share button in the project’s header
- Select “Manage Member Notifications”
- Adjust Notification for any Project Member.
If the Conversation Box is unchecked, the member won’t receive any Notification.
I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any follow-up questions!
Thank you!
