Sections don’t appear in search. How can I search for a section by name?
I just looked at the advanced search and there is indeed nothing there. The new sections are like columns in board view, and you can’t search for a column. Maybe that will be done soon?

As @Bastien_Siebman mentioned, at the moment it is no possible to search for Sections.
With that said, you could search for all task in a particular Section by creating this query:
You will see all the Sections nested in the Project selected on the dropdown menu next to the project name. After selecting the Section you want, you will see the Tasks of that particular Section.
I am aware that it is not exactly what you are looking for but it might be useful to you.

In our case, we have a project were well collect all potential new clients.
Then each client is a section.
At the moment it’s impossible to search for those.

I dont think this is working anymore – I cannot get the dropdown with Section options after selecting a project in the search bar. Is there an updated way to search for all tasks in a section for a saved search? Thank you.
Still annoying to see that section names don’t come up in Asana searches. Asana really needs to work on search overall!

Ah - good point! I re-read the post again, and it appears I was not quite following. The OP was looking for a way to search for Section as a search criterion by entering some value for that criterion, which I agree, does not appear to be current or past functionality (so it would not be re-introducing it). 
You are correct - it appears there’s not yet a way to search for "Section = “In Progress” (or similar). Thanks, ham!
I did see the section selection as part of specifying a project to only search for tasks in that section within that project, as Natalia suggest and Bastien showed (and thanks, both - I hadn’t seen this yet, and it was helpful!).

I conducted a search within the forum, but unfortunately my efforts were in vain.
So I made a suggestion.

Bumping this as a feature request. My team uses sections constantly as the title of a sub-project. The fact that we can’t search for these is really annoying.
What we did to be able to search sections is create a field which has the section title and is searchable. This has been our workaround.

You could also use the Group by button to group by your custom field and therefore avoid using sections altogether!
Do you manually enter this or is it an automation?
I’ve created a project template, and in the project temple it has each task with the field. So when we use the template it already has the information needed.
