Hi. Could we have an option to customise the side bar. Eg to remove items that we don’t use?
For example I don’t use goals or portfolios or reporting or My Tasks. So it would be good to hide these items.
Hi @Tim_Jasper, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback!
While this isn’t on our current roadmap, hopefully it’s something our Product team could introduce in the future! I’ll keep you posted
In the meantime the workaround is to use a Chrome extension like Stylebot with a custom CSS to hide what you want but that is an unofficial hack.
YES!! I was just looking for a way to do this. Those items take up so much space that its hard for me to see my projects list on my small screen laptop. Hope these options are available soon!
100% agree. I can’t believe you can’t hide items in your sidebar. So many things there I don’t want to see.
Also, maybe there is a way to get rid of the “Invite teammates” and “help and getting started” at the bottom, but I haven’t found it and find it incredibly annoying.
Is there a way to customize the sidebar to remove "Reporting,’ ‘Portfolios’ and ‘Goals,’ etc.?
Hi,
No this is not possible
Julien
I’d like the ability to hide(minimize) the section in the upper part of the left sidebar and/or reorder the sections on the left sidebar.
Given that 99% of my time is spent in projects/teams, I find that the upper part of the sidebar (home, my tasks, inbox etc.) eats up an unusual amount of space and I often end up scrolling or having to click ‘show more projects’. Favorites don’t help either as I need to see the entire team folder more often than not.
Hi @josh_hinden, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback
We do have an existing request for this in the #productfeedback already so I’ve gone ahead and merged your post with this existing request to consolidate feedback
I’ll keep you posted and let you know if this is something our Product team implements in the future
It’s frustrating having the team members circles and ‘invite’ link taking up so much room in the sidebar. I would hate to think how cluttered it must look when there are a lot of team members assigned, and for me it’s only me so I never use the functionality.
Hi @Lisa_Coulson, thanks for taking the time to provide this feedback!
Hopefully this is something our Product team can implement in the future. I’ll keep you posted and let you know if we have any updates
Agree with all comments here. I HATE the left sidebar as it is now. So much real estate is taken for things I 100% don’t need to see and makes it much more cumbersome to get to the things I use all the time.
Please remove (or give us the option to remove) items we may not use. In my case, I don’t need to see portfolios and goals at the top, Invite team members, and help should be moved to the top right corner (where is a ux best practice and where users look for help options).
Seriously, it is so frustrating to be prescribed what is important to me. Technically, this should be easy functionality to include, so I’m assuming that there is some reason Asana keeps choosing not to make this customizable.
Same thing here. On a 14 inch monitor, the sidebar is almost not usable any more. Great for Asana to launch new features, but bad news for those users who don’t use these features and now have a completely clogged view
Sidebar as it is today is very frustrating, I can’t see what I need on my 13" Macbook. Half of vertical space is eaten by Home, My Tasks, Inbox, Reporting, Portfolio, Goals, Help and Invite teammates, of which I use ONLY INBOX! This is so annoying!
I used to be a person who would rate Asana 10/10 and recommend the service to my clients and friends, but this is not the case for a few years, because devs keep ruining my user experience with this goddamn sidebar clutter. So basically you’ve slowly converted me from promoter to hater by this.
Please realise, a lot of your users don’t need to invite teammates twice a day, I personally work with a stable team for years, We also don’t need Help, since we’re using Asana for years now and have our own internal guides. And we also don’t use all this Portfolios and Reporting and stuff. What I need is easy navigation through a list of ~10 teams and ~100 projects.
Comparing to all the new features introduces during several years, is it so incredibly hard to allow us to hide something instead of constantly adding more?
Asana needs a cleaner sidebar like the other project management tools.
Completely agree, can we please keep this thread going? It’s frustrating there is no customizability on the left-nav. Definitely suboptimal experience on ultrabooks.
Please make customizing the sidebar an option. We mostly only use teams and all the other stuff is a distraction, especially since the sidebar is so narrow. So a vote also for being able to adjust the width of the sidebar.
Agree! I want to select which team members appear in the sidebar.
Another vote for this. I signed up for Asana for a year (am moving from Monday) and now that I realize that the sidebar is basically useless AND there’s no way to have a big project and then subprojects, am already regretting it.
How does this work?
