Hi Team,
I am a Google Workspace Administrator and I have successfully installed the “Asana Integration” for Google Workspace via the Google Workspace Marketplace. I’ve performed the Domain-Wide Install to ensure it’s available for my organization.
However, I am facing an issue connecting it to Gemini. When I go to Gemini (gemini.google.com) and look into the Settings > Extensions menu, the Asana extension is missing from the list. Therefore, I cannot use @Asana commands to interact with my projects.
Could you please clarify:
-
Is there a specific step required to “handshake” the Marketplace app with the Gemini Extensions panel?
-
Are there any specific regional or license requirements (e.g., Gemini Business/Enterprise) for this to appear?
-
Is there an official tutorial or documentation available for setting up this specific integration?
I have already tried refreshing the session and checking the API controls in the Google Admin Console, but the option still does not show up in the Gemini interface.
Looking forward to your guidance.
Hi @Patryk_D , I broke out your post into it’s own separate thread. Let me know if you would like me to rename the thread title.
Sorry, I don’t know the answer but hopefully someone else will, now that this thread has better visibility and searchability
Thank you!
If you feel a title change is necessary to make the post even clearer, I’ll trust your experience on that. Thanks again for the help!

Hey, thanks for the detailed breakdown. I know how frustrating it is when the Marketplace install looks good but the extension never shows up.
There isn’t an extra “handshake” in Asana to make Gemini pick up the app. In most cases the Gemini Extensions list is controlled by Google and your Workspace eligibility and policies.
A few checks I’d try:
1. Confirm account and session basics
- Make sure you are signed into Gemini with the same Google account in your Workspace that has the app available
- Try a hard refresh, sign out and back in, and an incognito window
- Give it a little time after a domain-wide install since Google services sometimes need a propagation window
2. Verify Admin Console settings
- Check that Gemini for Google Workspace is enabled for your OU
- Make sure Extensions are allowed for Gemini and that Marketplace apps are not being restricted by Admin policies
- In Security or API controls, confirm third‑party access is allowed for the Asana app you installed
3. Narrow down scope
- Does the Asana extension appear for any user if you switch from domain‑wide to a small test OU and reinstall
- Do other Gemini extensions show up for the same users
- Are you using consumer Gemini or Gemini for Workspace with a Business or Enterprise add‑on
On your questions:
- Extra handshake step: there isn’t an Asana‑side toggle I can point you to today
- Regional or license requirements: discovery is governed by Google. If your org uses Gemini for Workspace, double‑check your plan, region availability, and OU policies with Google Admin
- Docs: we don’t have a separate Asana guide specifically for Gemini Extensions at the moment. If you want us to add clearer setup docs, I’ve shared this ask internally and you can also add a +1 here: https://forum.asana.com/c/forum-en/product-feedback/20
