Hi Asana Community ![]()
I’m running into a consistent issue in Gantt View: clicking on the chart/timeline to assign a time span to a task doesn’t work reliably.
What I’m trying to do: Click on the Gantt chart next to an existing task to set its start date and due date directly from the view — without opening the task detail pane.
What’s happening: The click most of the times doesn’t register at all. No date range bar appears. There’s no error, no feedback — it just does nothing. It works occasionally, but I haven’t been able to identify a clear pattern for when it does or doesn’t respond.
Expected behaviour: Clicking on the Gantt chart next to a task should reliably create a time span (start date + due date) for that task. Clicking and dragging would ideally also work for defining the length of the time span in one move.
Workaround I’m using: Setting start date and due date manually via the task detail pane — functional, but slow and it bypasses the whole point of working directly in Gantt View.
Environment:
- Asana App, Version 2.7.1 (2.7.1)
- macOS 26.5
- Asana plan: Starter
Has anyone else run into this? Happy to provide a screen recording if that helps. Curious whether this is a known issue or something specific to my setup.
Thanks!
