We are also strongly considering leaving Asana due to lack of Markdown support.

I am using Asana for a few days (coming from Trello, not my choice) and I keep finding feature requests from 2 years ago that are still pending. Marksdown, see the project name of a substask in my tasks, counter/indicator of substasks inside a task, etc.
This is baffling.

It’s soo annoying and not having the ability to quote or post code snippets renders asana almost unusable for coding projects.

Markdown is predictable and ubiquitous!
Delivering markdown would likely close a number of other issues, notably Ability to insert hyperlinks

Userstory
As a product manager
i want to use paste snippets that are pre formatted in tasks
so I can work much much faster.
Context
- I use Alfred text snippets. These paste the standard format for a user story and sets the cursor at the start for me. This works flawless and super fast with other PM software that does support markdown.
- This comment / reply is actually created with the snippet that I use on a daily basis.
- It is kind of ironic that on the forum this actually works precisely as I need.
Possible solution

Another reason that I don’t believe has been mentioned here is for CSV imports. I’m moving from a Google sheet, which has rich formatting in the description cell we’re using, and I need those to be replicated in the Asana task. I’m handling the transformation from the Google sheet to the CSV, and so can inject italics using Markdown simply, but they, of course, render literally in the Asana description.

2+ years and you still don’t care about this. What is funny you are asking about feedback and how most likely i would suggest asana to friend, because of no markdown i can’t honestly suggest it to anyone, it’s simply useless without it and i only use it because in our organization it’s used.

We switched over from Trello to Asana, and I almost want to turn back!!!
Markdown support is almost a must have these days, and I can’t believe that the product team at Asana are dismissing the countless cries for attention here!
Our entire team has been caught using backticks all through Asana descriptions and comments and it hurts seeing them show up literally.

Our partners have now switched to ‘Wrike’ over asana because of this… issue. Such a shame as I prefer Asana… but as developers we need markdown support.
